I think the great secret to blog longevity is this: whenever you have one of those days where you think to yourself…
“why am I doing this anymore? this isn’t what I started this for; it’s not personal anymore, it’s not private, it’s not really the Journal that I hoped it would be…”
…that you take no significant action whatsoever in regards to those questions. (Honestly, those ‘self doubt’ days are the worst times to make decisions about anything, let alone blogs.)
See, eventually the mood passes and you can get on with what you’ve been doing.
My current conundrum:
- I want to have a place where I can literally write exactly what my days been like, what I did, et cetera, without alienating my friends or editing myself.
- For something like that, it would really be best to work the whole thing offline.
- If it’s offline, what’s the point?
You see the problem :)

It's a tough one, balancing that privacy and public act. There have been times when I wanted to bitch about something (that's when it most often is a problem), and I just couldn't, for social and/or professional reasons.
I guess I don't feel constrained enough most times for it to be an issue. Yet.
(Where push will come to shove, eventually, will be when Katherine's old enough to be mortified about being written about. At which point, I'll probably set up something else, anonymous.
