As I suspected, the extended version of Two Towers makes a much stronger film than the one I saw in the theatre.

With Fellowship, the added bits were nice, but not the sort of things you’d really miss in the movie. From this review, I’d gather that I’m going to see quite a few scenes I might have wished we’d seen on the big screen (rather than the seige of Osgiliath).

Which again is exactly what I’d suspected would happen.

But you can see it on the big screen, come December, when they release the EEs of FotR and TTT into the theaters.

Me, I've not seen the EE of TTT yet. Hoping for a birthday present, because a Christmas present will mean I'll have seen it in the theater on Trilogy Tuesday first.

Personally, I'm hoping UPS gets a move on and gets my copy to me by Friday so I can bring it along to TurkeyCon...

I suspect you'll get a chance to watch it next week if they do, Julia.

More accurately, Two Towers extended cut makes a better retelling of the book. Peter Jackson really is doing a fine job of (a) making a good movie with the theatrical release and (b) recreating the book on film in remarkably painstaking detail with the special editions.

The fact that he can do both with the same footage and a mere forty minutes of scene edits really is more remarkable than most anyone gives him credit for.

The added scenes really make the DVD worthwhile. Some really good Merry and Pippen scenes.

And I am still not happy with the changes to Faramir after having watching the reason why they changed Him.
