And, yet, given that at this point I am leaning toward getting the Comcast DVR, the timing turned out to be (coincidentally) perfect, as it's just now being offered in Denver.

And, to be fair, it was not really a battle. What eventually happened was that Margie decided that the risks of our watching a bunch more crap on TV were lower than the difficulty of timeshifting acceptable TV fare for Katherine. My tempered wheedling was not the determining factor.
Or, if it was, she's not admitting it. :-)
