I’ve lived in Colorado over a decade. That said, I don’t feel I know it as well and as much as I love it; as well as I ought.
I believe I’d like to fix that.
The end.

All you need to do is start going and doing, or ask someone that has lived here a long time about things to do and go.
That and read westword for fun things to do and see through out the week and on weekends.

Lots of cool stuff in this state, and lots of fun activities. And, just like everywhere else, often it's the locals who have the least appreciation or participation or exposure to them, unless you make a real effort.

Or...
Unless you grow up here doing all those things. :)

This caught my eye again this morning, and it popped into my head that you could see quite a few weird castles in this state if you put your mind to it. Maybe that'd be a good travel project this summer, for De if nobody else.

Yes, there are De.
There is one in the DoCo Elbert County area that is supposed to be great, and the owner has Titian paintings as well.
There is one down in the Rye/Beulah area that some guy has been building by hand for the past 30+ years.

And I forgot about the Richtoffen (brother of the Red Baron) Castle in east Denver.

I highly endorse a trip to Bishop's Castle near Rye. It's awesome. You can climb all over it. It's getting crazy high these days...

Someone said to me that living here is like having a huge back yard, and I agree. We live aat 8610 ft and I tell everyone that we live on top of the world! We try to "wander" on the weekends, get to know the state.
