The latest television commercial for the anti-anxiety drug Paxil features many worried people. Pill Pushing to the Anxious. Opportunism (and shame on the company involved for pulling this crap). These are tough times, but if you’re feeling stressed out right now, it’s not a disorder and you don’t need drugs (not for just that, anyway). All it means is that your sentient and conscious.

Maybe it’s just my white-boy, South Dakota upbringing, but I find this sort of stuff eerie, which I suppose it part of the way I was brought up. If you’re feeling like crap, get some sunlight, get outside, and get some perspective. Accomplish something. Don’t… take shit. Distancing yourself from how you feel seems to me to be the most counterproductive of pursuits.

Yes, I understand that sometimes people have real chemical imbalances, to them, I say go ahead and take your medicine — that is a physical, not mental, issue.
