My in-laws have a dog, a very cool little black cocker spaniel, who is not working out at their place. There are a few problems, but it boils down to they don’t really want an indoor dog, and frankly that’s what they’ve got. Housebroken… the kennel and stuff… it’s all there.

Anyway, since he’s not working they plan on getting rid of him in what is, to me, an unacceptable manner, so we offered to take him. We have a dog, so we know the deal. We also have the space, and they already have a kennel, and he’s small, so there’s not a lot of added expense (aside from starting him out with a trim and a wash to get the farm off him). It’s all good.

I just don’t want Jake to get upset about this. It bothers me. I think that somehow a dog his own size would be less of a problem, but the cocker’s not a big dog. Anyway. At least he’s too small to get on the bed when I’m not there. I’m sure it will all be cool, and even if it’s not great, it’s better than the alternative.
