The world is a crazy place.
I remember when Aids and HIV first became household words. Whispered household words. How long ago was that? I was still in high-school, I think.
Still no cure, people still dying. Living longer, yes, but still dying. Still no cure.
I don’t have any stories to tell about how the disease has touched me. It hasn’t — no co-workers, no friends, no family.
Just the whole world.
My kid is 11. He knows about condoms. Today, we revisited that discussion. December 1st will become our annual Embarassing Conversation Day. Someday he’ll understand why I thought it was important — a few years later he’ll stop blushing.
