Just something I want to say, not for any reason specifically — I should probably just make it a standard practice to repost this every so often.

I love having the comment function on here. I love hearing people’s thoughts, and knowing that in some small way I had something to do with generating the conversation. I installed the code in the first place with a little bit of caution in my heart, becuase these sorts of things can change the feel of the site.

Therefore, 3 simple requests:

1. Don’t say anything to anyone on here that you wouldn’t be comfortable saying to them in a face to face conversation.

2. If you disagree on a point, address the issue, not the person.

3. The comments page and what goes on it affects how this site is perceived by the people that come here. I give you, my friends and visitors, a significant measure of influence over how I am portrayed to the world at large. That’s a big deal (to me, anyway), and I hope everyone remembers that.

Okay, back to the banal and slightly amusing.

(Thanks to Xkot for the little forum guideline.)

For everyone who's reading this and would have their perceptions changed by assertions by total strangers in the comments section of Doyce's site:

Hey, thanks for the linkage :) The rules you quoted were actually written by my friend netsloth, of http://www.webpiper.net in an email to me after I lost it and shut down my board. He is a pretty wise guy sometimes, isn't he?

..and then there are those people who WOULD say those things to your face... but who understand "play nice" anyway.
