the friday five.

1. If you could eat dinner with and “get to know” one famous person (living or dead), who would you choose? I used to automatically answer “Steve Martin” to this question. At some point, I remember making a list of cool people and slowly eliminating people until that was who was left. In the “or dead” column, I wouldn’t mind having dinner with Roger Zelazny.

2. Has the death of a famous person ever had an effect on you? I don’t know, exactly. I remember being deeply shocked when Brandon Lee was killed. I remember when Zelazny died, but I don’t clearly remember feeling shocked or affected.

3. If you could BE a famous person for 24 hours, who would you choose?
Real Answer: This is sad, especially considering the answer to #4, but… Bruce Willis.
Needlessly Viscious Answer: I would take over Tom Green, spending the first 23 hours of my time eating messy italian food. In the final hour, I would find a tall building and jump off it. The food intake should guarantee he would leave a fittingly ugly corpse. Once back in my own body, I would gladly receive the Nobel Peace Prize and an honorary Oscar for my actions.

4. Do people ever tell you that you look like someone famous? Who? When I’m in a thin phase of the year and my hear is short, strangers stop me and ask me to sign stuff, thinking I’m Bruce Willis. Seriously. My friends think all these people are insane.

5. Have you ever met anyone famous? I had lunch with Tom Daschle a couple times when I was a kid at my grandfather’s house (Grandpa’s a big Democratic supporter in South Dakota). I met David Letterman at JFK Airport — the guy I was with that took a picture kept it. I met Elmore at an art show, and I’ve exchanged email(s) with Brust, Gygax, and Jonathan Tweet. Wil Wheaton touched my blog once. (heh)

6. (bonus) How are you wasting your time this weekend? Game tonight, running up to Broomfield Saturday morning/afternoon, hosting people at the house Saturday night. I might try to make a play for catching some movies on Sunday, but it’s more likely that we’ll be working on lawn stuff instead. (I need to go to Home Depot for some flooring stuff anyway.)

*Now* I understand your Bruce Willis obsession. Scary, dude.

On the other hand, it beats the hell out of Tom Bosley ...

Bruce Willis. Hmmm. Can't say I've noticed the connection.

After all, just because my girlfriend occasionally e-mails me to ask if I've asked "Bruce" to sign her breasts yet, means nothing...nothing at all.
