Jackie picked up one of those color cartridge refiller kits. You know the ones.
After screwing with it for twenty minutes, I began to suspect that the hearty vocal encouragement from her coworkers was part of a techie-equivilant cow-tipping hoax in which the participants try to pull in another sucker so that they can slowly start to forget the moment when they themselves were fooled into participating.
My hands, stained with Cyan #3, look like I hunted down Cookie Monster and killed him with a fillet knife. The ink case is leaking steadily into the sink and has been for an hour, its sponge more leeched of color now than it was when we started.
The kit works like a charm: we screwed up the cartridge so badly that we have to buy a replacement: Presto! We’re not out of ink anymore.

Dude. Those things are evil, plain and simple. At most, if you're lucky you'll get one additional fill on your cartridges, two if God himself comes down and blesses it for you. And you're running the risk of damaging not only the cartridges you're trying to fill, but the printer as well. See if you can pawn the fill kit off on someone who doesn't know better. Ask Dale if he needs one...;)

Yeah. Right along with "refill your own toner cartridges at home! we'll show you how!"

I've never even been tempted by these... and I buy the HP cartridges... more money to know that when I put the damn thing in, it will work...
Course, I'm a business, so I keep three of each cartridge on hand for each of my printers (current total: 3 - 2 printers and a plotter) Saves me frustration when the cartridge doesn't work (not that it has happened to me lately)
