The friday five:

1. What’s your favorite TV show and why?
Umm… that’s so cute. One favorite show. Here’s my “can’t miss or must tape” list instead:

Monday: Angel
Tuesday: Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Buffy
Wednesday: Felicity (mostly want to see how it ends)
Thursday: Nothing (!)
Friday: Farscape (except I have to watch it via tapes from Dave right now, because… ugh. Long story, but suffice it to say that it would cost me 45 bucks a month to watch.
Saturday: Nothing
Sunday: Alias

Of that list, I enjoy Gilmore Girls, Farscape, and Alias the most. (Obviously for different reasons.) Farscape is just the best (most wholly enjoyable) sci-fi television I’ve ever seen. Gilmore Girls makes me howl with laughter. Alias has good actors and a great storyline.

2. Who is your favorite television star?
Right now, the guy who plays Lex Luthor on Smallville.

3. What was your favorite TV show as a child? Dungeons and Dragons animated series, probably. MASH was a staple of my family’s viewing diet, but I don’t clearly remember watching any series regularly (although I’m sure I did) until Moonlighting came on.

4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now? Jerry Springer. Any one of those damn mid-afternoon Courtroom shows.

5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season? The Tick! Oh, wait…

Umm. Alias. The show is fantastic and it’s apparently doing fine, but that doesn’t mean that ABCsucks won’t cancel it. It’s the only thing I’m watching on the top 4 networks.

Bonus: What’s up for the weekend? People over tonight. Saturday we are mixing paint and painting the main livingroom/dining room area of the upstairs (which may require two Saturdays). Randy and the CH people are coming over Saturday night. Sunday I’ve got this… thing that I promised I’d help with. Not thrilled with the thing, but oh well. It shouldn’t entirely suck, except I’ll be away from the house for about 6 hours (God help ‘em if they make me late for Alias, because no one else will.)

"Long story, but suffice it to say that it would cost me 45 bucks a month to watch."

Local cable company raping you with Digital Cable too?

I had the Movie Channels, till they put in Digital Cable and told me I'd have to rent a box to watch the channels I already paid for, while they are not just on Digital Cable, I have to have a box. I already have a DVD player, big ass amp, big ass pre-amp, big ass CD changer, Replay TV. the last thing I wanted was a another box and an incompatable remote.

When I told them to shove thier cable box, I gave up the Sopranos and Band of Brothers, but I've got my remote count to a nice stable 7.

But I get Farscape :)

Basic extended cable includes farscape in Denver... everywhere but where I live, which is a 'non-rebuilt' area -- 'non-rebuilt' translates to 'you get only the BASIC basic list of channels, and we can't control the system enough to give you more access. Farscape's not on that basic/basic list.

In a non-rebuilt area, the only way for them to have enough control to give me my frelling Farscape is with Digital Cable. I even paid for it long enough to tape all the first three seasons on repeat. Then I got laid off and had to reassess my obsessions.

We had a lot of similar answers. Doyce. I can't believe I didn't consider Michael Rosenbaum, though. Damn, he's the main reason to watch Smallville.
