1. What’s the last vivid dream that you remember having?
A couple days ago I had a relatively Stephen King-esque romp through a dead or dying field where a gap-toothed, bib-overall wearing fellow was plowing descicated corpses into the ground to fertilize the soil. Further investigation revealed a shack out in the middle of the only fecund part of the field where the guy was storing his fertilizer.
He wasn’t using a fertilizing discer, though — he was using a sod-turning plow — wouldn’t have fertilized very well.
It’s been a weird week.
2. Do you have any recurring dreams?
Not very often, and none that have recurred within recent memory. I used to have some recurring ‘alien invasion’ or ‘zombie army’ ones.
3. What’s the scariest nightmare you’ve ever had?
No idea — probably something when I was really young was being chased around the house. I’ve woken up from a dream a few times in recent years absolutely convinced that there was something in the bed with me that oughtn’t be — a huge nest of spiders, etc. — and trying to hold very still lest I disturb the whatever-it-was.
4. Have you ever written your dreams down or considered it? Why or why not?
When I can, I do — usually, the process of hunting for something to write with and write on wakes me up to the point where I forget the dream — I forget the details of dreams very quickly.
5. Have you ever had a lucid dream? What did you do in it?
Frequently. I’m usually happy when this happens, because it’s usually a dream where something really horrible has happened — I’ve accidently wrecked my car or lost my job or something — and the realization that the simulation of the event I’m dreaming through isn’t real is a big relief. (Although such hyper-realistic dreams do tend to lend a certain level of surrealism to everyday life.)
Bonus: What’s up this weekend?
- Friday: People over tonight.
- Saturday: I need to focus on my deadlines and write write write. Katherine’s 2nd Year Birthday party is in the afternoon. Consortium parents are in town, so we’re looking forward to this event for a number of reasons, not the least of which is the opportunity to gather embarrassing stories about Dave and Margie’s youth.
- Sunday: Golfing with Dave and Dave’s dad.
- Monday: Nada.
