From h a r m o n y b l u e, a cool little blogger survey:

Ethics/Personal Life:

Has a blog post ever got you into trouble?

Yes, but not much. Mostly I just get concerned phone calls sometimes.

How many people do you know face-to-face who read your weblog?

23+

Have you met any of your regional (or even remote) bloggers?

Nope. Have not yet met any bloggers face to face that I didn’t already know.

Do you modify or delete posts? How often? Why?

Modify: yes, because I makk errors.
Delete: only very rarely, and usually they are deleted before I ever get to the point of posting them.

How much is your weblog a part of your personal identity? Do you feel like people who don’t know about your blog don’t really know you?

I feel that people who know me have a much easier time keeping up with what’s going on in my life if they read the blog, especially if they don’t see me often.

How has blogging changed your life?

I’m much more in touch with some people I don’t see often in real life. Other than that, there really isn’t much impact.

Technical/Design:

Do you know how to code at all? Did you learn how to code by blogging?

I remembered how to code by blogging, but I knew how to long long long before — just hadn’t done it in awhile.

What weblogging tool do you use and why?

MT, because it kicks ass.

Does the design seem like something that is just something that has to be dispensed with in order to be able to write publicly, or is your design an integral part of your writing and presentation?

I’ve got a version of the page here that doesn’t use any of the design stuff from the main page, but reproduces the text in a way that reads better on a PDA — 50% of the time, I like reading that page better, so I’d say that the layout here is not integral.

How many times have you changed your weblog design entirely (or nearly so)?

Umm… aside from color changes, I really haven’t ever changed the design… when I find a new design that I really like, I just make a new blog.

Readership/Motivation:

How many people would you guess (educated guess based on hit counts/logfiles) read your weblog on a weekly basis at least?

I have no idea. I get about 80 different machine addresses a day. Beyond that, I can’t extropolate.

What have you done to get more people to look at your site?

Left it sitting open on my work machine.

What one or two characteristics make a blog really popular? Are there things that you could do to have more people read your weblog that you conciously do not do? Why?

I’ve sort of already answered this, and recently, so I’ll just force you to hunt around on the page for the answer. Neener neener.

What really popular weblog do you think most deserves it…and/or least deserves it?

WWDN, for either category.

How do you feel about your readership? What makes for a quality readership to you?

I love you guys. A more polite, educated and well-spoken group of people I could not possibly have hoped to attract.

Influence of Other Bloggers:

What other blogger is most responsible for you starting your own weblog.

Geektastic. Rey introduced me to them, but it was reading Geektastic that really make me want to post a lot and try make people laugh.

Who was the first other blogger (that you know of) who put you on their sidebar, and how did you feel? How did it influence your blogging?

I think it was Drew, actually (see sidebar). There was a crazy week when I noticed that both Surreally and Bad Sam had linked me — that was a pretty damn good week.

Don’t know that it really did much for my blogging tendencies — when I try to be extra entertaining, I suck.

What other blogger do you most admire for her writing skills?

Maggie.

What other blogger do you most admire for her design skills?

You’re kidding. Seki. Hands down.

Who is a blogger that you think is really good but doesn’t get nearly the attention they are worthy of?

TC. Since I synced his page into AvantGo, I take him with me everywhere.

Do you feel obligated to have people on your link lists/sidebars that you never read?

Not one little twinge. If they’re on the bar, that means I read them. Period.

What one or two characteristics define a really quality blog (in your humble opinion, of course)?

Honesty. Enjoyment.

Awwww. Thanks. I think my crappy design might have something to do with my anemic audience response (god, I've been working in advertising far too long....).
