1. You receive notification of jury duty. Do you go willingly, or do you try and find some way to beg off (or get yourself disqualified)? What if you were told that the case you were being impaneled for might go on for months?

Personally, I’ve never thought of jury-duty as some onerous ordeal. I’m sure if it were months long it would screw me up somehow, but what’re you going to do? I don’t personaly believe in blowing the interview.

Now, in a wash of honesty I’ll confess this: I currently don’t have to consider jury duty since I’m not a registered voter and have never been in my (currently) 13 years of eligibility. There are (or at least were) reasons for this, but I think that 2000 was probably the last major election that will pass by unnoticed.

2. Would you be willing to give up sex for one year if you knew it would give you a much deeper sense of peace than you have now?

[…] oh sure, because doing the same thing for shorter periods of time has really calmed me down and given me a hint at the wondrous revelations I’d discover after a year. Whatever.

I’ve never bought into denying yourself something as a means of enlightenment, especially sex. Who do we have as an example of the success of this practice? Catholic Priests?

I can’t think of one situation I’ve been in that called for peace of mind where the obvious solution was “oh, I’ll just stop having sex.”

Sure, THAT’LL calm me down.

3. What’s the most violent television show you watch? What about the most sexually graphic?

Alias is probably the most violent. Buffy or Angel might have more ‘punches per show’, but the fights in Alias look a lot more painful. People get a LOT bloodier in Alias. (Also, there’s the “One in FIVE, you sonofabitch, ONE IN FIVE!” scene from the last episode. Heh.)

This last season, Buffy’s been pretty big with the bedroom scenes, and it’s hasn’t been ‘nice’ sex, either, so I might have to go with that, but really, most of the shows I watch don’t have much sexy stuff in em.

This is America (as Madeleine would say), where the motto is “give me violence, but keep those sex scenes away from me.”
