Didn’t get a blessed thing done. Still, it was a pretty good night.
Yeah, we were supposed to all play a little Star Wars (I had a pretty wild storyline sketched out) and what we actually did was sit and b.s. out on the deck and play very very little Star Wars…
but I got to grill pork chops and steak and corn on the cob for everyone.
And it was all pretty decent * (the corn wasn’t as good as last time, though to be fair it was frelling fantastic last time). It was just nice to have everyone out on the deck, visiting.
* - The great grilling challenge: put steaks, pork chops, and corn on a grill at exactly the same time, and get them done all at the same time. Almost got it last night. Alllllmost. Really close.
But mostly it was really good. Even the bad was good: we caught Justin in a lie last night, and I’ve already talked about what the punishment is for that. He opted to take his licks last night rather than wait for this morning, so I had to interrupt everthing for about the 40-gazillionth time and go upstairs to take care of that (it’s all very business-like).
So that kinda sucked… but I said the bad was good, right? How’s that?
Well, that was the first time he’s lied to us in two and a half weeks and then some. That’s a friggin’ world record around the Bear’s Cave, people. Say what you like about the punishment, the very best times are those long, luxurious weeks when Justin isn’t in trouble for anything, and that’s how it’s been for over half a month.
Half a month. There’ve been days when I would have happily gone half an hour. Seriously.
And we’re done; the punishment is over, no hard feelings (well, at least now that he’s had a night to sleep on it and realize that his sunburned shoulders (a whole different story) hurt a hell of a lot worse than his butt does), and now we can sit back and see how long we can go between punishments this time. Hopefully it’ll be longer. Hopefully we’ll eventually get to a point where the punishment becomes irrelevant from disuse.
That’ll be a pretty good day, I think.
