1. How do you react when people sing “Happy Birthday” to you in a restaurant?
I dislike it in restaurants, mostly because it doesn’t mean anything: it takes two seconds to request it from the staff, assuming that do that sort of thing, and the staff themselves (assuming they do that sort of thing) do it 15 times a day.
Hence: meaningless.
When it’s my friends and family singing such things, I try to accept it with good graces and in the spirit intended.
2. The cashier gives you change for a twenty, even though you paid with a five. Do you keep the extra money, or return it?
Give it back. I’ve worked on retail systems tech for too long not to know whose pocket that mistake is going to come out of.
Unless they’ve been rude. In that case, I won’t say boo about it. It’s called the service industry for a reason.
3. What do you think is the best conversation piece in your house?
I have no idea. Coming up with conversation topics with my group of friends isn’t the problem — we’ve got five conversations going on at any given moment anyway.
My dogs sort of demand to be the center of attention, however, so maybe that’s it.
