1. What was/is your favorite subject in school? Why?

English, that catch-all for ‘creative writing’ and ‘literature study’.

2. Who was your favorite teacher? Why?

Ms. Radigan, my academic advisor in college and the Honors Program administrator who taught the first two English courses I took in college. That I liked her immensely did not hurt my study habits one whit.

A close second: my english teacher in Junior High who, only five years later and only in his early thirties, died of a stroke.

3. What is your favorite memory of school?

Playing in the pep band for basketball games and other sporting events… one of my many extra-curriculars, but easily the one I enjoyed the most.

4. What was your favorite recess game?

Four-square. By Junior high, we only had a small ‘recess’ area that was all concrete, so this became the game du ans.

5. What did you hate most about school?

Lectures. I’ve never been good at learning through straight lectures. Very few classes have been so interesting that a straight lecture could hold my interest. The situation has not changed as I’ve aged.
