So I’ve got a twinge. Don’t exactly know how I picked it up, but it’s definitely there. Been there for about two weeks. Didn’t strain anything, so I don’t know what’s up.

Where? Reach down and back and put your finger right where your last vertebrae meets your pelvis in your lower back. Now move about two inches to the left, top of the glut’s, right in line with your hip joint. That’s the spot. Juuuuust bad enough to make the muscles all around that spot sort of low-grade cramp.

Grrrr, as the bear would say.

Hurts when I sit, especially when I lean slightly forward while sitting, especially to the right. Very annoying. Doesn’t hurt when I stand or run and stretching feels good, but nothing seems to get RID of it.

Annoying, since I know there’s alot of car- and airplane sitting in my very near future. I’m actually looking forward to the long walks around London and Wales, simply because that stuff doesn’t bother me. I’m trying to decide if a couple back pills will help it relax enough to realize there’s no reason for it to hurt.

Time to pull out the Yoga for Wimps and get to work, I guess.

Not sure about the exact placement, but I had a very similar kind of pain. It tended to flare up after sitting for awhile or sometimes while sleeping. I was diagnosed with something called Piriformis Syndrome, which sounds worse than it is, I think. Basically, the piriformis muscle, which travels laterally under the glutes was stiff and was pressing against the sciatic muscle, which is what was causing the pain.

I'm undergoing physiotherapy for that now. Some electrostimulation, ultrasound, and stretching. If you want to talk to me about the stretches specifically, I could try to describe them to you.

I've noticed that it doesn't bother me when I sit 'properly' -- upright, no leaning, etc. I've addressed part of the problem (that I'm basically keeping it aggravated by bad chair-posture) by lowering the arms on my computer chairs so far that I can't rest my arms on them. Keeps me from leaning and also it's hard to slouch when there's no place to put your arms.

I was thinking more like kidney stones.

The way you eat.

I'm like a health nut compared to the people I game with :)

Nice try to freak me out, but I know what back strain feels like, and while this is minor, that's all it is :)

Darn. Kidney stones before a vacation in another country would have made great material for the blog.
