Simple indicator of the tastes prevalent in our traveling group: Westminster Abbey made us go ‘ooh’ — the Tate Modern Art Museum made us go ‘eww’.
Caught on the headlines of someone’s newspaper on the Underground: “Germany moving to halt Iraqi war. U.S. fury continues regardless of…” I just stopped reading.
Dave’s comment on the article: ‘Well, you know us Americans, we get an idea in our head and we just have to go right out and bomb it.’
Heh — either way he meant it — heh.
Scratched into the plexiglass window of a tube car: ELAMENT.
E-Lament? Like E-mail? Electronic whining? El amen t? Bad spelling of element? (Quite a lot of work went into the scratching to get it wrong). I wonder.
Today was the second day real day of the trip, which meant grumpiness, confusion, grumpiness, lack of focus, and grumpiness prevailed. We are all still breathing and in possession of two working kneecaps, so lets call it a ‘win’ on the ‘travel success’ chart.
I’m writing out much more detailed versions of what’s been going on, which i will eventually post, but with no way to interface the palm to the terminals at the internet cafes (or none that I brought the hardware for) — that won’t happen til I get home.
Miss everyone — off to read email.
