It’s a little-known fact (or well-known if you’re a geek, I suppose) that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was adapted from a novel. Interesting. Even more interesting (to me, anyway) is the fact that it’s an adaptation of Book Four in a five-part pentalogy, written by a chinese novelist know for his wuxia (wu’-shia) or kung-fu novels. Since I found this out, I’ve been trying to track these books down, but haven’t had much luck.

This page sort of explains why: the english versions of the books have been optioned, but no one’s done anything about it yet… in english, the only thing we have are some new graphic novels that are coming out as adaptations of the books (and, as ‘super kung-fu’ books, they’re pretty good, if you’re into that).

One more reason to learn chinese?

Anyway, just through I’d share the info.

Is it only five? I've seen the series in bookstores here and it seems to go a lot longer than that...twenty or so...it could be a five-part section of the series, though.
