Scientists have stood up to the food industry by stating that a key way to tackle the growing global obesity epidemic is to encourage people to limit their sugar intake to no more than 10 per cent of their diet.

Lemme get this straight: this advice, which is described in the article as a ‘drastic diet change’, suggests cutting sugar intake down to 10 percent?

If I eat nine pounds of non-sugar, than I can have a POUND of sugar, and that’s considered ‘drastic’?

Worse: cutting sugar intake down to this is something that needs to be said? Wow.

I think I need to check on some studies and found out how much ‘sugar’ is in something like a turkey sandwich, because to me this just sounds crazy.

I was thinking maybe by "sugar" they were referring to all carbs, but no. I'm shocked, really. I bought a five pound bag of sugar last summer, that I'm just about at the end of. I'm pretty sure I've eaten more than 50 lbs of food since then. I'm pretty sure I've eaten 500 lbs of food since then. So, if I'm skewing the average that much, there are people out there eating a diet of 50% sugar? Eek.

Damn, and I thought I was still okay after polishing off that 5 kilo bag this morning for breakfast.

Curse those Action Spoons (tm).
