While traditionally the thumbs up was an insult in the middle east in the past, over the last 20 years it's taken on more and more of an American positive aspect.
For example, in the late 80s you didn't thumbs up when hitchiking, you pointed at the shoulder of the road. By 1994 it was about 20% thumbs up and 80% point. Today it's about 70% thumbs up and 30% point.
In Egypt, Israel, Jordan and anywhere with alot of exposure to the western media, it's no longer an insult. Usually.

If you follow the link that explains the Army's divisional numbering system, the last paragraph has it wrong concerning unit size. Replace the term regiment with brigade and it's right. A regiment is either a purely symbolic designation or one of three specific brigade formations.

There are active Army Regiments.
2nd Armored Cav Rgt
3rd Armored Cav Rgt
278th Armored Cav Rgt
The armored cavalry regiment (ACR) is a separate corps maneuver unit. As a corps asset, it predominantly operates for the corps commander by performing reconnaissance, security, and economy of force missions.
A Regiment is marked with III, while a Brigade is marked with X
To further complicate things, every Brigade has been aligned with a historical Army Regiment for the purposes of lineage.

Once again, hats of to the contingent of those-who-know-too-much.

Here I thought it was pretty impressive that I remembered how to read the military units symbols (III, X, XXX) (+ armored, mechanized, infantry boxes) from my long-ago wargaming days.
