So my old job is a fading memory as of Friday. I’m moving on to something new and pretty pleased about it.
Which of course means I’m suddenly getting other offers?
I don’t even understand how this kind of crap happens, or why — I’ve got my little agent guy doing searches at Monster, and every so often I get an email with a few possibilities; one time in five I think ‘yeah, I can do that’, and I shoot off the cover letter and resume. This has been going on for… heck, 2 and a half years? More. The constant low ping of apps going out.
And four different companies are calling me right now. Right now, as in ‘they all started calling last week, within two days of each other’. Unrelated jobs, unrelated industries, and all of them somewhat intrigued/puzzled that I’m not going nuts with enthusiasm when they pitch me.
Isn’t there some sort of myth about not getting any romantic interest from other people until the day after you get engaged, and then you’re suddently swamped? Is this the same thing?

So I should stop trying to find a job? Is that the key?

No. Someone just needs to offer you one.
Anything. Pet psychologist. As long as it pays money.

Seriously, and I know this is cornball, you just keep sending out the resumes. Just keep hitting that can 'submit' button on Monster. It's all I did -- it wasn't like I was walking around with a 'hire me' placard.
Hell, the thing I'm actually doing, they contacted me -- I didn't even officially give them my papers until after the second interview. It was like being back in 1998.
