Wow...
First no tags, now no oil.
You must really hate your truck.
*grin*

Sadly, true.
Well, not 'hate'. Just 'not like'.

I should point out that I checked and the oil level is not low.

And yes, I know that having lots of oil doesn't do any good if it's old. I get that. Not stupid, just neglectful.

The check engine light is usually tied to the emissions system, etc., and often turns on automatically xx,000 miles after the last time it was turned off by the Ubercomputer at the shop. It probably (despite all the dire warnings in the owner's manual) does not require rolling to a stop and bailing out of the vehicle before it bursts into flames.
If the oil is low, the Low Oil idiot light will come on. Trust me.

Oh. Heh. I think I just rolled over one of those (Damn) "divisible by 12000" mileage points on the odometer -- that would explain it.

What ever you think it is you better get it to the shop ASAP!!!!!!

This might sound stupid....I sure thought so when I heard it the first time....However....Make sure your gas cap is on tight. Most car's emissions systems freak out if your gas cap is lose.

Yea...
I forgot about that. One of the women that work with found that out after taking her car into the shop a few weeks ago.

Reggie didn't screw on the gas cap on my car one time, we were out of town and called the tow truck and the whole nine yards - after waiting for 2 hours we decided to drive home anyway! Reg took it to the dealer the next day and all they could figure out was that the gas cap was loose. I love it when he gets to feel dumb for a change.
