I Built him well, Horatio

Kind of a strange image from the Dark Horse Star Wars archives. If I wrote fanfic, I could write a short story around this image.

Y'know, that raises an interesting point. Given 3PO's origin, did DV realize who it was riding around on Chewbacca's back during Empire Strikes Back?

Insert "giving head" joke here.

And, did Vader realize that C3P0 was the droid he was looking for? Of course not, that would imply that Lucas had any idea what he was doing before he did it. I wonder how they are going to explain the fact that not once throughout the original trilogy did C3PO wonder if Luke Skywalker was somehow related to the Anakin Skywalker who had built him.

Easy. AI-Brain wipe.

I think it's mentioned in A New Hope. Uncle talks about wiping their memory like it's not a big deal. I'm sure they have stuff to do that but not lose the basic programming.

The 'official' word from (f)Lucas is that the droid were never brain-wiped (it's one of the reasons they develop clear personalities, because they aren't given a 'routine' memory reset every year or so).

Apparently, the thing with 3P0 and the Skywalker name recognition thing will be explained somewhere (in theory).
