A Roman Catholic priest was sentenced Wednesday to four years and three months in prison for dealing drugs from his Florida rectory and his New Orleans condominium.

He admitted he dealt drugs in the rectory of his church, and at his Bourbon Street condominium in New Orleans. (The guy’s home address might have been a damn CLUE, people.)

Crandall blamed job stress — the guy obviously needs to get la-- oh.

Now, I know it’s not just the Catholic Church commiting crimes — the media is blowing this up and focusing on CC crimes right now and, statistically speaking, the occurance of crime among the priesthood is low, but it does seem some shake-up is in the offing. The idea of the Church policing its own seems laughable at the moment.

Part of it is the scale of the thing. The RCC is huge. Some people are bad. As a comparison, the Postal Service has a lower than average rate of workplace violence but there are 750,000 postal workers, so we get our own adjective.

Well i for one think the attention being paid to this problem has been a long time coming. It's a shame though that the media are only focussing on North America. Sexual predators in the CC have been around from the very beginning and the rules on celibacy have only made the problem worse.
