13-Year-Old Hospitalized With Alcohol Poisoning in Wheatridge, Colorado.

The girl had a blood-alcohol content of .240 — twice the legal limit for an adult — and guess how the school’s handling it, since NO ONE can figure out how she got the tequila?

No drink containers allowed in the school for the rest of the year.

By all means, lets not actually have teachers WALK AROUND the playground to see what’s going on. (They’re just too busy.)

Let’s not investigate suspicious behavior. (Don’t want to get sued by the kid’s parents for harassment.)

Let’s just ban drink containers during the spring/summer session of school in the 2nd sunniest city in the U.S.

But just for this year.

Next year, everything will be just fine again.

"When drink containers are illegal, only criminals will have drink containers."

Yeah. It's a lot easier to have ZT for drink containers than to actually look at behavior, poke your nose into someone's business, or exercise judgment. (It's also a lot safe.)

I worked for 3 years in public education, as a computer geek, but I was in the District Office so I heard things.

After all that time, I can tell you what the problem is with this drinky-drinky thing.

Children are never held responsable for thier actions.

"and guess how the school's handling it, since NO ONE can figure out how she got the tequila?"

They are handling it this way because on the way to being a school administrator you must be stripped of all your common sense. The drunk in this case isn't at fault, because there is no sense of responsability installed in schools, they won't find out who did it, not because they can't, but because there is no such thing as "fault" or blame in Public Schools anymore.

It's not that they are afraid of being sued, it's that they are afraid to think.

At my old job, we had a kid collecting credit card numbers and ordering things off the internet with them. We found the joker, and on the way to call the police, school administration decided that it was simply a cry for help because he was understimulated.

Recently at this work, we had some kids abusing the iMac lab (because they have speakers) with obnoxious music. Well, it's not a behavior issue, it's a cultural issue.

See, no one is responsable anymore in schools.

Oh, and another thing.

Why the hell should the kids be allowed to run around with any sort of drink container at school?

Where I went to school, it was a no container campus.

Where I work now, you can't get anything made "by a major corporation" or that has sugar in it.

Bastards.
