The weekend:

- Saturday: I need to focus on my deadlines and write write write read a really good book and laze around the house all day, accomplishing very nearly nothing (although I did get three pages done on the Uber-Deadline. Katherine’s 2nd Year Birthday party was in the afternoon — I was terribly sick to my stomach all day, but still enjoyed small portions of the food, large helpings of the company, and a fun board game very much like the “Fictionary” game that the Whetsel clan used to play.
- Sunday: Golfed with Dave and Dave’s dad and did… well, not great, but not completely awful — on most days, I am a Pitching Wedge God — too bad I can’t putt. Afterwards, back to the Consortium for eats and more visitings. Jackie made cookies and we played that Damn Board Game again.
- Monday: Nada. Sadly, this is essentially true, although Jackie did prod me until I wrote more of the stuff for the Uber-Deadline. I read most of the day. Good book. Too good, unfortunately, since I couldn’t put it down until about 1 am and was still very tired this morning.

"That Damn Board Game." Doyce had the voice of the cards nailed, which meant that those of us who thought they were quite clever were being consistently sucked in by his oh-so-reasonable-yet-witty answers. Dammit. I used to be pretty good at that.

June 19th, 1970 [object of the game is come up with (in this case) a plausible event that happened on this date.

I write: 'Hey Jude' hits number 1 on the charts, a position it will hold for 51 weeks.

Dave sez: "I dunno, but that extra little factoid about the 51 weeks makes it seem pretty damn plausible... I'll vote for that."

I get a point :)

My favorite one was the the... David G-something or other, and I wrote "First sherrif of Dodge City, killed during his first week in office."

Doesn't even matter if it's true -- people want it to be true :)

What is the name of the board game, though? Inquiring minds want to know...

"Beyond Balderdash"

There was at least one time I voted for Doyce's answer with the proviso that it was either correct or one of his.

I was right.
