Friday
- Got some bad news.
- Was very glad that I’d already cancelled everything for the night.
- Went to a forgetable movie and called my family from the theatre.
Saturday
- Ran a few errands involving Home Depot.
- Watched Bourne Identity and got some software gathered together for Randy so he could format his computer and install the OS (after picking up a bushel basket of viruses).
[later]
- Fielded a number of calls from Randy about an install gone horribly, horribly awry (including a grocery list of “Drivers not found” problems with the Compaq onboard hardware).
- Couldn’t sleep and played Tribes until 3 am.
Sunday
- Woke up to a call from Randy about his still-infected horrorshow of a reinstall.
- 11am: Went over to Randy’s to give him a hand.
- Noted that 40 gig harddrives format really slowly with Partition Magic.
- Played Lunch Money with Randy while the harddrive fdisked, formatted, and installed… also went to Best Buy and Media play while the harddrive fdisked, formatted, and installed.
- Worked on finding drivers for the the ‘not found’ problems after the install.
- 10pm: Finally came home after admitting to myself that Compaq’s sometimes suck so bad that not even I can find the (nonexistent) Win2000 drivers for the onboard sound chip. (Everything else is working, though.)
All in all, it was a bad weekend, but with some good parts. I would have liked to have seen Jackie more on Sunday.
