1. Putting a link to your email on your site is a guarantee you’ll be getting spam for a million zillion years.
2. You don’t like just putting the text of the email on your site… being able to just click a link to send e-mail is cool.
3. You’re too lazy to do anything about 1 and 2, so you just put your email link up anyway.

What I'd always planned to do to be really safe is use the tiny little cgi script found at http://www.turnstep.com/Spambot/avoidance.html. It seems to me that this would work for everyone, even the 11% of the people who cruise the web without Javascript on.

Of course, I haven't gotten it to work yet, but I've only dinked with it for a couple of hours, and I know absolutely nothing about cgi scripts. Until I get the time to figure it out, though, masking the mailto addresses by in the code using ascii symbols for the letters works out pretty decently.

You could always just use a .gif of your email address, but of course people would have to re-type it.
