Lileks on his work PC.
I get to work, turn on the wheezy PC, hit X to exit Scandisk. That’s the program that scurries over your hard drive checking for errors, because YOU, Mr. Stumblethumbs, just turned it off yesterday without letting Windows winch itself down from the attic of its house of cards.
I feel your pain, m’man; I am THERE.
That’s not the best reason to read his current entry, however (which will eventually be archived here) — the real gold is his perfect summary of a typical blog post:
Clever teaser headline that has little to do with the actual story, but sets the tone for this blog post.
Breezy ad hominem slur containing the link to the entire story.
Excerpt of said story, demonstrating its idiocy (or brilliance)
Blogauthor’s remarks, varying from dismissive sniffs to a Tolstoi-length rebuttal.
Seven comments from people piling on, disagreeing, adding a link, acting stupid, preaching to the choir, accusing choir of being Nazis, etc.
Boy is my face red.

I couldn't agree more. Lileks has really nailed it on the head with this one. I mean, all I have to do is start going through links down the side of Doyce's blog and just about every blog is structured about the same way.
How else are you going to do it, really? Is it really a blog if all you're going to put in it is original content? The best blogs comment on things the author has seen. That's just the way it is. No sense in fighting it.
