The fact: We, as a country, are more obese than ever.

Which isn’t to say there aren’t plenty of people out there who are healthy and active and absolutely sexy heavyset people. There are. I know some.

But that’s the exception.

There are ways to live a healthier life without either starving yourself or trying to ignore your body and the way you start breathing hard just because your car’s parked too far away from the building, but again, that’s the exception.

Two-thirds of the U.S. are considered overweight to some degree. Over 30 percent are unhealthily obese, and growing. Really growing.

And apparently, we’re lying to ourselves about it.

I know a lot of people who are doing something about this - friends of mine taking steps to get under control (and yeah, I really do feel it’s a matter of control).

I’ve been losing weight since the Blogathon (which has no significance except that’s about when I set out to do so), so maybe that’s why this is on my mind. Maybe.

Maybe I just think it’s disturbing. I’m not the sort of guy who finds waifs attractive in the least (give my Kaylee on Firefly over the girl on Alias any day of the week, and kick them both to the curb for my wife, thankyouverymuch), but there’s a point where you begin to worry for the health of those you care about, just the way you would if they smoked, I guess.

There you go: my uplifting whine for the day.

Yeah, I am exactly on the borderline for obesity. In a size 12. Sigh. My plan is to not gain any more. I've been this weight for a decade... pretty much exactly the same weight... I would rather be borderline than start the up and down seesaw that always seems to end with more weight added than lost.

My problem is I am very inactive. I sit a lot.
If anything were to be a focus for change, it would be that.

The fix is in.

Those same lawyers that went after the Tobacco industry in an attempt to sue into submission what the Supreme Court and Congress wouldn't supress are going after the makers of fatty foods. FDA is jumping on the bandwagon as well.

I'm big. I admit it. I had alot of chemicals in me as a kid (cancer), then I've got those fast-gorge genes of a plains indian and my Grandfather was of husky stock. And I have a femur the width of a normal person's balled up fist. I'm big boned, the Docs even say it "Wow, that's a thick tibia". I was in Israel, I ate rice and lentils and walked 4 miles a day and did phsyical labor. I gained weight. I'm boned, theres no freakin' help for me. So I have some Chicken in a Biskets with french-onion dip. Don't sue Nabisco.

Back in 95-96 I worked out 5 times a day, serious lifting, the body remains the same.

I'm big, but I can squat 600 pounds.

When I die, I did, don't mess with my Doritos.

That was my rant.

I have low bloodsugar because my 240 pound bulk couldn't leave because a Gateway with Win2K was just rebooting it's self for no good reason, and locking up so bad, the power button wouldn't work.

Soon I will be at my 17" LCD iMac and the world will be all OS X Aquay and the world will be better.
