I’m getting nervous.

As the handy little timestamp indicates, it’s October 30th, and I’ve got 25 hours and 34 minutes until NaNoWriMo starts.

And still no goddamn idea what I’m going to write about. I have at least an opening scene that I want to write by now, but not this time.

Which isn’t to say I don’t have anything I could write; I’ve come up with at least three solid ideas and Jackie suggested another one to me today that would be pretty interesting.

But none of them are screaming “WRITE ME!” yet, and it’s getting down to that time. If I can’t decide pretty soon, I’m going to open a poll.

I think that part of the reason I’m stressing is that I’ve done this before — I honestly thing that makes it more difficult to do again… plus, I write my stuff pretty publically*, so that promise of public failure is there as well.

It’s probably just jitters.

(You don’t have to worry about the man hiding behind the curtain with me, chilluns, this Oz is perfectly willing to acknowledge he’s no wizard. Feel free to slap me into ‘suck it up’ mode.)

Five brave souls have assembled on the Writing in the Dark blog to pat each other on the back and kick each other in the ass for the month of November (also, ***Dave also has posting rights by virtue of his 2001 alumni status). The link is up on the right. (In the Obsessive column. Duh.)

* - This reminds my that this project won’t be quite as public as previous stuff. I’m more than willing to embarass myself in front of complete strangers, but if you want to read the first draft of… whatever I end up writing in November, please contact me and let me know; I’ll add you to a notification list and tell you the super-secret location where I’ll be posting the story. A few restrictions apply.

I don't think I could do the nanwrimo thing. I have to have things done in my head before I commit them to paper. All of the writing that I do without thinking about it first goes into the blog.

...and before you say it, yeah, I know, it sure shows.

Thanks for the alumni status, man.

My blog address, howsomeever, has changed.

Suck it up, bedwetter!

Better? By the way, thanks so much for introducing me to that phrase, I get a lot of use out of it. :)

Actually, TC, what I was going to say was "well, your blog could be a pretty good book."

Course, it needs a plot :)

I have an opening scene, I have a few key moments down the line, but I'm not entirely certain how it's going to end. And as B5's JMS indicates, it's absolutely vital to know where you're going. Hmm. Guess I know what I'm thinking about for the... ah... next less-than-twelve hours.

Since the good Cap'n Rooba pointed me in the specific direction of WiD, I'm probably going to hang out and comment there as things progress. (btw, in Mozilla there's a strange page-layout problem... the center column content actually shows up as part of the narrow left column...)

I think I might have gotten the layout of the page fixed.

Maybe. I took out a few extra table codes that had been left in during a hack job I was working on.
