Random bit of trivia: Firefly pulled a 2.9 neilson rating for it’s timeslot this week behind all three of the major networks.
Third place was a 5.9 rating for America’s Funniest Home Videos. I’m sorry, but: What a country of simpletons we are.
I’m not mad that it beat Firefly, really. I’m embarassed that it did on behalf of the people watching it.

It's that whole friday night problem. Most of the people sitting at home on a friday night have no friends and drown their sorrow in watching people fall down and get hit in the nuts with rakes.

I think they only let the people watching for the neilson's have access to 5 or 6 channels. The rest is just made up.
Hmmm... I might be a bit cynical...

Doyce
One thing to remember is that the Neilson's only "record" shows watched. Not shows recorded or tiVo'ed. All the geeky fanboys out there who are watching the show on monday nights just don't count.
You need to get on the "random" sampling Neilson list. They send you a book and you just fill out what you watched and listened to. Really easy to lie to a book, not so easy to lie to a box sitting on top of your TV.

P.S.
Friday and Saturday nights are "old" people nights anyway. One of the reasons that CBS does so well on those nights.
