You know that party game where one person writes the first sentence in a story, then the next person writes the next sentence and so on?
You know how it feels to read the finished product, especially if you don’t know that that’s how the story was written?
That’s exactly the feeling you get from Triple X. Dear lord that was a cold pile of crap. Solidly in the “I want those two hours of my life back” category.
Definitely should have gone to the Cinema Grill and watched The Transporter instead.

The Vin Diesel flick? We thought it was a hoot. But then I've always been a bit easily entertained...
Shutup.

I think that my mistake was in wanting something like Bourne Identity and getting something like Eraser meets Austin Powers.

You never for a moment wanted something _serious_ did you? (looking aghast) We liked it, but then I did think that at some point they changed the script from the writer's original intentions... which seemed to be to assert the premise that video games were adequate training tools for this sort of thing. ... but that's all it was: a large video game.

Um, what did you expect? I thought the commercials made it clear that this was a bunch of stunts, a really annoying soundtrack, many Vinny shots and a few one-liners. Oh yeah, and some nice shots of Prague. Waiting for the Schlock mood to hit me and watching it on that basis, it was OK.

It took itself seriously. If it had been just a touch more tongue in cheek, if they hadn't tried to make it a serious bond-like film, I would probably have loved it.
That said, I do like the angle of 'playing video games has trained me to be an agent'.

I liked it, but then again I'm biased towards films with hunky guys of mysterious ethnic origin bouncing around on various high-tech machinery. ;)

I thought that you knew that Vin Diesel was the new Stallon.

I actually find after this discussion that I'm more likely to rent and probably enjoy XXX. My expectations are now suitably low that I might find it fun.
