Hey there, chilluns. Been a pretty quiet weekend up here on the page, so I thought I should talk about what all’s been going on.
Long story short: I’ve been really busy. Working backwards, let’s start with today. I spent the lion’s share of Sunday at my part-time job.
That sounds funny, since it really feels more like volunteer work than anything else: I’m refereeing the adult and kid’s soccer leagues for the Highlands Ranch Rec Center. The first games were today, and I was doing all of them, so I wrapped up the day with a good workout, and a dime-sized blister on my heel. The league goes from now until the middle of March sometime, and generally I much prefer reffing the kids rather than the adults. The later part of the evening was spent over at the Consortium with friends, eating leftovers from 12th night (see Saturday).
Saturday I escorted Justin and his girl to The Two Towers. It’s still a good movie. Smealgol is still amazing, and I still liked the first one just a smidge better. In the evening Jackie and I went to Dave and Margie’s annual 12th-night party, where I thoroughly enjoyed myself and ate too much.
Friday we had people over (although almost all of them beat me to my own house).
On Thursday evening, I got my eyes examined. I don’t wear glasses right now, although I’ve had prescriptions in the past. Here’s the riddle: I tested on the eyechart as 20/20, and scored Perfect on the depth perception test (which I had to take three times, because the doc thought it was wrong), but somehow glasses will make my eyes better — they were a little unclear as to how. Short version: one eye slightly near-sighted and one eye slightly farsight (which is apparently unusual) means that my brain is balancing out the workload depending on what I’m doing, and I’m effectively 20/20 — I’m just not really 20/20 (well, one eye is). Whatever. I’ll have new glasses soon.
What else has been going on? Work, basically, which is keeping me pretty busy. More on that in a later post.
