There’s a river running through the low part of my back part… basically right down the middle of the thing from east to west.
It won’t soak into the ground because the ground itself seems to be saturated.
How do I know this? Well, we have a sump pump in our basement — basically a short well shaft that goes down from the floor level of the washroom and is designed to fill up with ground water. When it fills to a certain point, the float arm on a pump inside rises to a certain point, the sump kicks on and pumps all the water out, thus keeping the saturation (in theory) below the floor level of the basement.
Well, the sump pump is fifteen years old, and apparently one of two things are wrong with it:
x The arm is sort of stuck or sticky.
x The float is saturated.
My money is on number two.
Anyway, what happens if the sump keeps on filling up is that is eventually overflows into the basement.
So that was my Wednesday night and Thursday morning — how are you?
