One of the things I love love love about Blogrolling is that it shows when the sites linked on the side have been updated. Yes, that’s cool.
Two of the things that I hate hate hate about blogrolling is that (a) I can’t tell where people are coming to my site from and (b) other people can’t tell that a visit from blogrolling.com was MY visit from my linkbar.
That last bit really bugs me — makes the whole thing seem less personal.
But I really like seeing the little smilies that show me someone updated… do I love that more than I hate the level seperation it puts between everyone’s blogs?
We’ll see.

Huh? Refers off of a blogroll on a page (even if generated by Blogrolling.com) should refer back to the page, not blogrolling.com. At least my refer logs indicate that.
If someone picks your blog off of the blogrolling site, or recent-post list (just like at MT), then it would show blogrolling.com.
Right?

Ditto here. I have never had an issue with it.

Weird. I get a ton of hits from Blogrolling itself.

Do you get refs coming in from me? Because 99% of the time I click off my Blogroll.

Sometimes people will click a link from Blogrolling's recently updated blogs page. That's where those come from.

That's what I was thinking -- I get occasional hits from Weblogs.com and Movabletype.org for the same reason. I can't imagine Doyce getting a "ton" of hits from there, though. His blog is cleverly named but not that cleverly named.

Actually, what's weird is that I'm getting the hits not from the 'recently updated' page, but off of the... sort of a page that summarizes someone else's blogroll -- sort of the linkbar without any of the rest of the page.
Of course, I can't tell who the linkbar belongs to, because it's not, at that point, part of the owner's page.
It's weird, yes.

I looked yesterday at the "last 20" refers, and one of them was the sort of thing you mentioned. Not sure what it means. But assuming various folks use their Blogrolling link lists to go to my page, I show those as refers from the owner's page.

I think it depends on how the blogroll is placed on the person's page... I think the Javascript version is the one that looks like it came from nowhere, but I'm not sure. I use the php one and it seems to show up as a normal referral.
