Those guys in the highway contruction areas that stand at either end holding up “Stop/Slow” signs…
Within the highway construction hierarchy, is that job a reward or a punishment?
Cuz I could arguments for both.

It's a bottom of the totem pole job

I agree, but for freeways and other busy areas, they get "Danger Pay" and make time and a half for holding that sign.

I would think the general boredom would drive me nucking futs, regardless of the pay. I can see why it would be a bottom of the totem pole job.

It's bottom. Between the boredom and the danger, the angry people in a hurry and yelling at you and the one's who give you the finger and swoosh past. It's no fun at all. Beleefi me!

Have you ever seen one of the sign holders just SNAP and loose it? Not a pretty site. I had the pleasure of seeing a younger gent banging the bejeebers out of a Grand Cherokee window when the driver of said Cherokee honked the horn one to many times. Scary kind of funny.

Oh yeah, throwing traffic cones at assh**es was allowed if they didn't slow down or nearly whiffed you. I also saw a foreman sling a 2lb sledge under a lady's car when she zoomed by jabbering on her cell phone. THAT makes a lot of bangidy banging!
