This period’s Blogger Insider questions are from John Slade: Coolness, Irony, and Anti-Dumbth. He has my questions, and will (I imagine) post them shortly.
Here’s his questions and my answers:
1) What is the favorite city you’ve ever lived in and why?
Bar none: Greater Denver. Specifically, south-west side of town, up against the mountains. There is no beating the combination of amenities, attractions, climate, people, and economics (knocks on wood).
I really enjoyed Tampa when I speant a few weeks there on work-stuff, so I suppose that’s second place to anywhere-in-Colorado.
2) Did you like Star Wars Episode 1?
Parts I liked. I took it for what it was — an experiment by Lucas with lots of new toys. I have a feeling that Episode 2 is going to make me feel a lot better about Episode 1.
3) What is the best part of being a parent? What do you like least?
I like it when he laughs. I like it when he makes me laugh. Those are the best times.
I don’t like it when he looks at me like I just don’t understand what he’s saying. (Not that I don’t ‘get it’, but that I literally don’t understand the words… for the record, I understand the words, I just can’t believe he’s saying them.)
4) What is your favorite Role Playing Game and why?
Oh boo.
Umm.
Boo. Hell, I don’t know. I like Amber because you can run anything — if you get bored with one kind of story or genre, you can just make it into some other kind of story… sci-fi, fantasy, Neil Gaiman’s Endless… whatever — but I despise the rules system.
Star Wars. Playing in Lucas’ backyard is… it’s just great.
5) Name three of your favorite recording artists.
Bare Naked Ladies
Big Head Todd and the Monsters (yeah, still)
Prince (ooh, there’s a dirty little secret for yah)
6) You like movies a lot. Do you have a director whose every movie you enjoyed?
Sam Raimi.
7) How about an actor or an actress who can do no wrong?
I don’t remember ever being displeased by Bruce Willis, Seth Green, Rufus Sewell, or that guy who plays Lex on Smallville.
Actresses? I don’t think I…
Oh. Helena Bonham Carter. She’s great.
8) If you could only read one author for the rest of your life, who would it be?
The cop-out answer is Shakespeare. A gutsier answer is Neil Gaiman.
