Dad got his tests back yesterday and the cancer isn’t in his lymph nodes.

This is really good news. Although it has (as I’ve already mentioned) spread out away from the original mass, it’s still quite localized and hasn’t worked it’s way into either bone marrow or lymph nodes. This basically means the difference between eight weeks of radiation and some hormone shots or six or seven months of chemotherapy, plus the radiation and shots.

No one’s doing backflips, but this is pretty good news.

That is exceedingly good news. I just let go with a huge sigh of relief.

Still won't be easy... but it's do-able!

Walking with you.

Hey guys I would be Doyce's sister, and I actually would have done a back flip but I am usually afraid of my feet leaving the ground. However, this really is good news and according to mom, even if it had spread to dad's lymph nodes he would never do Chemo - they just don't treat this type of cancer with Chemo, just lost of radiation and hormones to keep him from producing testosterone. They do a dry run of the radiation today, this will take about 2 hours and then he starts the real thing on Monday and I guess it will take him longer to park the car and walk in then the acutally treatment will take. But it will make him tired and there is about a 2 hour drive each way to the appointment so please don't stop praying for him. This is definitely a marathon not a sprint. And for some one who has run a marathon, we are only on the first leg of the journey.

Thanks again to all of you who are Doyce's friends - he needs you around.
