A bit late, but still viable news.

Friday: Blood, guts, gore, homicide, genocide, necrotic spleens, and general badness. Oh, and some folks came over.

Saturday: I slept in, since by the time I woke up it was already too late to work on the yard (stuff needs to be done out there, but none of it is so important that it requires suffering through the heat). Cry Havoc folks came over that afternoon, including the ‘new person’, who was certainly a blast of pure chaos breath of fresh air. Fun.

Meanwhile, Justin went to a birthday party consisting of eight girls and two boys, one of which was him. The grin had to be surgically removed from his face when he got home.

Stayed up too late chatting with Randy, so he crashed in the guestroom.

Sunday: Would have dearly liked to sleep in, but Katherine arrived for a visit at around [mumblemumble] in the morning, and up I got. Watched some of Shrek, taunted Justin for a bit, and got ready to be abandoned by one and all.

See, Justin was off to Elitch Gardens for the continuation of the Mostly Girls Birthday Party, and Jackie was off for an All Girl Whitewater Day.
(Pix over here.)

So, after
- Justin had been spirited away,
- Jackie likewise,
- I tracked down Jake and Dizzy who’d gone exploring in the neighborhood when I turned my back for 0.2 seconds,
- Dave took off with Katherine…

Randy and I decided to go see Pirates of the Carribean. Both of us were in lazy bachelor mode, though, so this took awhile (I watched some more Shrek, which I don’t think I’ve seen since the theatre opening and liked a good deal more this time around.)

Enjoyed the movie. Nuff said.

Arrived home, finished Shrek, napped.

Picked up Justin around 4pm, at which point I found out he’d gotten sick in the back of the Birthday Girl’s parent’s van on the way back from the park. Too much… well, not junk food, so I guess just Too Much Fun. I apologized profusely to the Mom and promised that he’d never have Too Much Fun ever again.

Went home. More napping. Jackie got home around seven. Apparently a good time was had by all, though Jackie did take Monday off, citing medical issues such as “can’t. move. arms.”

Monday
Went to see PotC again. The only quibble I have is that Depp was sometimes hard to understand when he was talking softly, while Rush was hard to understand when he wasn’t. I mean, they both obviously knew exactly what they were trying to say… it just wasn’t always clear to me (or Jackie who, as someone who hadn’t already seen it once from better seats, had more difficulty with this issue — who’da thunk that it’d be that packed on a Monday night?).

It behooves viewers to watch from a place in the theatre where the sound is good. Minor quibble, however, in a great show.

I can only imagine the Boy's moritification.

Ah, well. Now Margie and I need to figure out when to go see PotC.

Lileks, on PotC:

You know you’ve suspended disbelief when you see a gigantic sailing ship in the harbor, and your first thought is what a magnificent vessel, not that’s some quality CGI. It took me about five minutes to decide that “Pirates of the Caribbean” was going to be halfway decent, and from then on it just clicked and clicked and clicked. Johnny Depp lifts the entire picture up two or three notches - his performance is so oddly anachronistic and parodistic that he ought to sink the entire thing; it’s almost a two-hour campy wink, but for some reason his performance grounds the movie and gives it a heart.
