Moviegoers checking out Fox Searchlight’s sci-fi horror thriller 28 Days Later in theaters after July 25 will get to see director Danny Boyle’s original, darker ending, which is being added to 1,200 prints. According to the studio, the message “What if…” will appear after the film’s final credits, followed by the alternate ending.
I suspect this is going to be one of those cult-hit movies that I won’t even be able to sit through, but I might be wrong. At any rate, with the current ‘sure we can come back for Labor Day and stay in hotels for a week *muttermutter*’ budget, we’re only going to be checking out ‘must see’ movies in the theatre.
Unless we make a judgement error, such as going to see LXG in the theatre. Now there’s a movie for which I’d sit through credits to see an alternate ending. (Actually, an alternate forty-five minutes or so would have been fine.)

I wish they had just kept that original dismal ending on the damn movie. Who says we movie goers always want happy endings?

Actually, it sounds like the original is there... then the alternate plays after the credits or something... and that the alternate's even scarier than the original.
Can't say though. Maybe I'll have to go see it. *represses shudder of lame-ass guy who can't sit through horror flicks*

Jack, Lou and I enjoyed it, Doyce. Jack and I left the theater hoping for the original ending, while Lou, always the hopeful optimist, preferred the one as shown.

I thought it was an OK film with the original ending, but that ending felt tacked on and incongruous with the rest of the story (for me, anyway). Since my only real complaint was the ending, I'm curious to see what the new one is like.
