You know that feeling?
The one where you’d almost rather not check your email because, although you sent out a clear-but-firm email to someone who needs to have some boundaries set, you just don’t know how they’re going to react — an angry phone call, an email, an impassioned plea to your mutal family to burn you at the stake…
…because that person is ever-so-slightly-oh-I-don’t-know-let’s-just-call-it-INSANE and you’d really like it if they just dealt with it like an adult?
You know that feeling?
(For the record, the actual email was far more polite and diplomatic than this post. :P)

Oh hell yea.
My DNA-donor "Dad" gets that nod. Actually short of someone who inflicts bodily harm or sexually abuses someone I don't think there is anyone out there nuttier than "Dad" or as abusive.
If we throw that wack-nut out of the running there is "Mom". On my cellphone caller ID she apears as the Dark One.
Lets sum it all up as Family Death really brings out the Ma in maladjusted.
Not checking email because something nasty might pop up isn't bad. Making a rule up to save that message to a text file drilled 5 directories deep*, then delete the message and rewrite over it 3 times in the Database and do it all so it doesn't ever show up in your mail and doesn't "ding" as new mail is bad.
* Why do I still keep it? In case I ever need it in court if I have to self-defense shoot the SOB.

You did handle it diplomatically and if she can't be an adult about it than at least the part of the family that matters is aware of how it was handled and will respect you for your actions.
